My Montreal Marathon Madness
Have not run a Marathon in around 40 years, and with activities underway with my recent retirement, this looks like a good time to see if this a wise idea. Montreal is relatively close, so giving it a go!

Come join 8500 participants for the run, at 8:00, or the smaller 3500 person 5K that starts at 7:00am. That’s 12,000 runners in all!
Fredericton Fathers Day Run
Great small venue run on a nice course in Fredericton if you happened to be there at the right time, for a modest $35 entry fee. Support the local UNB Track Club.
Tupper Lake Tinman 70.3 Triumph
Tupper Lake Tinman is a nearby triathlon started 41 years ago in Tupper Lake, NY – well before triathlons became popular. Finish the race to be officially declared “You are a TinMan” at the finish line. Can’t beat that!
H&H at the Canton Maple Run
Fun, fairly local small venue race in the USA, less than a 90 minute drive from Ottawa! Great SWAG, chip timing, with cash prizes(!) for top 3 finishers. While other folks are in Boston, why not do a day-trip next year and start the running season off with a 21.1 with Maple Syrup on the course!
Around The Bay with Harold
Start and finish in the FirstOntario Centre, so no waiting around in the cold at the beginning, and a super stadium entry on the finish! The course is a Classic ‘Older Than Boston’, since 1894. At 30K, not your standard distance, and plenty of characters on the route that make this a must-do at least once. Final 10K has rolling hills, and it’s a 2K downhill slope to the finish! Visit original Tim Horton’s in Hamilton as a Bonus!
Summerstown SnowShoe Run
Summerstown Snowshoe Race was a great day to be outside running through the woods on fresh snowfall: great mini road trip to the Cornwall area! Fun unique wooden SnowShoe Finisher medals!
Mad Trapper Snowshoe
Mad Trapper Snowshoe race is a classic series, and we love the night version. Snowshoe by moonlight & your headlamp, navigating through peaceful woods through silky deep snow on somewhat compacted trails. Venues with Mike at The Arc are always fun!
